Social Relief of Distress grant extended to March 2024

The COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant – also known as the R350 grant – is expected to be extended to the end of March 2024. This as government continues to consider options for a replacement for the grant with no decision taken yet on how the replacement will be financed. Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced the extension of the grant during his presentation of the Medium Term Budget Policy Statement in Parliament on Wednesday afternoon. “The SRD grant was introduced in May 2020 as a temporary measure to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable, who were affected by [COVID-19 induced] lockdown measures. It has been extended several times since then. Discussions on the future of the grant are ongoing and involve very difficult trade-offs and financing decisions,” he said. As a result of the extension of the SRD grants, other social grants – such as old age grants and disability grants – will increase lower than inflation. According to Treasury, the SRD grant is ex

 High School Crush

Once upon a time, there was a boy named Max who attended a high school in a small town. Max was an introverted and shy boy, and he rarely talked to anyone except his best friend, Tom. However, Max had a secret crush on a girl named Emily who attended the same school.

Emily was a popular girl, who was always surrounded by her friends. Max admired her from afar, but he never had the courage to talk to her. One day, Max found out that Emily was volunteering at the local animal shelter. Max loved animals, and he thought that this could be his chance to talk to Emily.

The next day, Max went to the animal shelter where Emily was volunteering. When he saw her, his heart skipped a beat, and he felt a rush of excitement. Emily noticed Max and smiled at him. Max took a deep breath and walked up to her.

"Hi, Emily. I heard you were volunteering here, and I thought I'd come and see if I could help out too," Max said.

Emily was surprised but happy to see Max. They spent the next few hours cleaning cages, feeding the animals, and talking about their favorite animals. Max was surprised to find out that Emily was not only beautiful but also kind and funny.

From that day on, Max and Emily spent more time together at the animal shelter. They started to develop a deep connection, and Max felt like he could be himself around her. Emily liked Max too, and she found his quiet nature endearing.

One day, Max finally mustered up the courage to ask Emily out on a date. Emily was thrilled, and they went out to a local diner. They talked and laughed for hours, and Max finally felt like he had found someone who understood him.

As the weeks passed, Max and Emily's relationship grew stronger. They would spend their afternoons at the animal shelter and their evenings going for walks and talking about their dreams and ambitions.

Eventually, Max and Emily graduated from high school and went off to college. They kept in touch, and their love continued to grow stronger. Years later, Max proposed to Emily at the same animal shelter where they first met, and she said yes.

Max and Emily got married and lived happily ever after, always remembering the day they first met at the animal shelter and how it brought them together.
